Legal Coverage
CHESCA recommends securing the services of legal counsel, particularly for beginning homeschoolers. There are several national organizations available. By renewing your membership every year, you are also helping to fight legal battles for other home educators across the country.
CHESCA recommends Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). They offer coverage of lawyer fees if a legal problem occurs for you as a member, and toll-free counsel in case of an emergency. Their annual fee is $100. Note: CHESCA membership entitles you to a 15% discount on your HSLDA fee. Contact your local nurture group leader for details and the Membership Discoutn Group number.
Other options include The Rutherford Institute and the Pacific Justice Institute.
