CHESCA Nurture Groups
Alliance
Description: Alliance Nurture Group is comprised of 43 families with 64 children ranging in age K-12th grade. We mail out a monthly newsletter approx. 10 months of the year with various opportunities for involvement. Some of these have included co-ops; both short and longer term, various field trips, service projects, 2-3 larger events (picnic and Christmas party, etc.) that include the whole nurture group, organized gym and swim classes through the local YMCA's,, and an end-of-the-school year Share Fair for the purpose of displaying talents and projects. During the summer months we schedule unstructered play times at various local parks. We are always open to new and exciting ideas for our group. Our leadership team is always willing to assist interested homeschoolers as well as veteran homeschoolers with any questions or challenges they may be experiencing.

Description: Although our group has historically been a co-op oriented group, currently most member families do not meet with one another but maintain a connection to CHESCA for the flow of information that comes through e-mails, meetings and the newsletter. A good portion of our membership consists of CHESCA homeschool veterans; folks who have graduated at least one home school student. Many of the veterans have, in the past, put in volunteer time in leadership within CHESCA central or currently serve CHESCA in that capacity. Other members are very active homeschoolers within their region but live further away than is practical for participation in our county. We continue to exist as a group to allow families to stay within earshot of what is happening while minimizing the need to participate in group activities. Canton / North Canton
Description: The North Canton Nurture Group welcomed the Canton Nurture Group in September, 2007, and they are now one group. North Canton has grown exponentially since its inception in 1997. For the past few years, our membership has reached 60+ families, and we strive to meet the needs of Christian Home Educators in Northern Stark County. Many of our members live in North Canton, Uniontown, Hartville, Plain Township, Jackson Township and Canton. Students in their last year of high school, newborns, and everyone in-between are represented. Activities and field trips are planned to reflect the interests of the group and tend to cover all age groups. We schedule two field trips/activities per month. Our popular Mom's Night Out is also held once a month, and Family Night Activities occur every two months as well. A Kickoff Picnic is scheduled late every summer and the year concludes with our spring banquet. Our nurture group newsletters are published five times throughout the year, with most members receiving them by e-mail PDF attachments.
