Blackwell key speaker at Ohio Restoration Project luncheon

CHESCA members recently had an opportunity to be invited, by way of PAC chairman Mark Stevenson, to a free lunch provided by the Ohio Restoration Project. The meeting was held at the Hartville Kitchen on Tuesday, January 17, 2006. CHESCA members, Angel Kovicich and mother-in-law, Delores Kovicich, Tanya Muckelrath and her son Ethan, Diane Becker, Norm Floom and his father, Mark Stevenson and his sons, Jonathan and David, Lance and Penny Popiel, Randy and Rhonda Pope and their children Abigail, Beau, Joanna, and Leah, as well as Becky, Robert, and Michael Parkinson were all in attendance. That would be 21 representing home schooling. We hope the following pictures give a view of the afternoon and how enjoyable it was.

We thoroughly enjoyed yesterday's luncheon! Ethan said "That was really great!" He really was impressed by both speakers. Ethan also said it "encouraged him that you CAN be in political office and still be Godly. There are men courageous enough to stand for what they believe." Since we are new to Ohio I found it very helpful to begin to figure out who we have in leadership and what kind of people they are. We are also excited about getting involved in our state's political process. When you meet and see these people, it is easier to realize they are just "regular joes" and it's not so intimidating to speak to or work with them. Christians need to get involved! I loved the one speaker's quote from Martin Luther King about being either a thermometer or a thermostat. That puts it into perspective...you can either be someone who is always taking our nation's temperature (and complaining about it like most do) or you can effect change and be more like a thermostat. We CAN regulate who is in office simply by getting involved and helping others stay informed.

Thanks for inviting me to the lunch. I also really enjoyed myself. It was very encouraging to be surrounded by many like minded people who have the same vision. It was wonderful to see so many different groups of people coming together in Ohio, such a vital state concerning future elections. Especially, when you continue to hear negative voices in media you can begin to think that you are alone in your effort, but then to see an event like this gives you the courage to continue the fight. Or be stirred in your spirit to get involved. I couldn't imagine anyone coming away from an event like that and not be impacted by the significance we can have to change our country!
